After years of providing critical medical care in conflict-affected Marib and Taiz city, Yemen, Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) announced that it has completed the handover of medical activities in the two cities to the local authorities.

“"We are grateful to have served these communities and remain committed to supporting the access to healthcare across our remaining projects in the country,” says Tila Muhammad, MSF head of mission based in Sana'a.

Since 2019, MSF has worked in Marib and Taiz city with local and health authorities to provide free and high-quality healthcare, and to deliver essential care to displaced and migrant communities in the hygiene fund clinic.

In both projects, MSF also responded to cholera and measles outbreaks, as well as delivered essential items to the people who had been displaced by floods.

MSF remains actively present in ten governorates across Yemen, continuing to provide trauma care, maternal and pediatric services, and emergency medical support in regions facing acute humanitarian and health crises.

MSF has been working in Yemen since 1986 and has maintained a continuous presence in the country since 2007. Its work, according to Tila Muhammad is guided solely by medical needs and carried out independently of political, economic, or religious agendas.
